This print is part of a collection commissioned by Dr.Stacey Hunter, Director of Local Heroes, for the Love Design project showcasing in the G&V Hotel, Edinburgh from 7th - 28th February 2017.
Its inspiration comes from the iconic Freedom Tower in Miami completed in 1925. I enjoyed thinking about this buildings purpose over time - originally as a printing facility then as a centre for helping Cuban refugees and now as a museum and cultural education centre. The tower is tall and linear and its sandy yellow facade is broken up by many windows. The blue in the design is to represent the blue waters of the adjacent Biscayne sea
Printing on 100% Scottish Linen Union gives the bow tie a contemporary twist - a popular material during the 1940’s Swing era.
7 cm at widest point of bow. Adjustable for varying neck sizes.
